VoxPop Games
From May of 2022 to August 2024, I worked for VoxPop Games, an indie game micro-publisher and tool for indie developers to meet each other. During my time at VoxPop I took on many different hats, but the main task I had was to create any and all advertising for the company. This included all the games we were publishing. My stand out project for the company was Outer Terror, which you can view the page for here.
“VoxPop’s New Direction” was a video I made to introduce our audience to our new middleware toolset, which allowed indie game developers to pay contractors through an equity split of their game.
One of my favorite tasks at VoxPop was creating game trailers. I got to work closely with the developers of each game and really hone in on what they wanted to show off for the game. I created a multitude of trailers, but here are some of my favorites.
The Outer Terror Console Trailer had a fast and exciting pace which made it really fun to work on. The panning through the comic book shots are my favorite parts of the trailer. I put a lot of work into those comic pages, so I was happy to show them off.
I also really enjoyed working on the Wakey Wakey! Trailer. I got to work with students from my alma matter, Bradley University which a lot of fun. We went through a bunch of different iterations of the trailer. Originally, the Wakey Wakey! logo broke through the screen, but after some discussion with the team, we felt it didn’t fit the style of the game well. Overall, this trailer taught me that sometimes, simpler is better.
You can checkout VoxPop’s youtube here. Essentially every video on the channel was created by me during either my time as a full time employee at VoxPop, or as their intern.
During my time at VoxPop I was also was in charge of running testing sweeps for both our games and the platform. I worked closely with our software enginneer to track bugs and identify the easiest ways of solving them. Although we didn’t get to finish building the platform before VoxPop closed, we were able to get a prototype finished which you can view here.
While working at VoxPop Games, I used the following software…
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Adobe After Effects
- Addobe Illustator
- Adobe Photoshop
- Streamlabs OBS
- Unity
- Construct 3
- Google Sheets
- Tutorials for the platform
- Trailers for upcoming game releases
- Over 100 pieces of micro-content clipped from streams on the VoxPop Twitch channel
- Hundreds of static images (Profile pictures, Banners, Sales Pictures, assets for videos, thumbnails, Assets for steam pages, ect)
- Testing sweeps for the platform and a few games on the platform.
