YouTube Channel
My board game YouTube channel, IcarusPanda is currently sitting just above 800 subscribers, and has 64,000 views. My most viewed video, my Ticket to Ride Europe video has just below 20,000 views.
My current series of videos about the game Root, and has been my most successful yet. This series has pushed me to my limit in terms of editing and camera work. I’ve spent hundreds of hours fine tuning each detail of these videos, and it’s been amazing to see my skills grow with each upload.
One of my favorite projects I’ve worked on was my ranking of the Cosmic Encounter Aliens. Although I think I’ve improved at making videos since, this project sticks out in my mind for a few reasons. The first is size of the project. This video series contains 51 fully animated examples of how powers work in Cosmic Encounter, which looking back, is quite a feat. The second reason it sticks out is because it caught the attention of one of the designers of the game, Jack Reda. Jack was nice enough to invite me onto his podcast to discuss the series.
I’ve also done freelance for other YouTubers before. I recently got to work with Kennie J.D. (700k subscribers) on her Kwame Kilpatrick video. I love editing for other YouTubers because I get to edit in a new style. Editing in other people’s styles allows me to take a look at my own editing style and improve it.
